Target Haul

Standard

Hello everyone! Today I have a small haul for you.

This weekend I popped into Target to have a look around and, as usual, picked up some things. None of the products I bought are brand new, but I have been eyeing them for a while and decided to give them a try.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Pink Me Up (045) is a muted pink with shimmer. It looked gorgeous but washed me out a bit when I put it on. If you have medium or dark skin, I recommend applying a lipliner underneath (and filling in your lips) before you apply it. I applied one that’s a couple of shades darker than my natural lip color and it looked great! The formula is creamy but it does emphasize any dry patches on the lips. Be sure to moisturize beforehand!

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny (720) is raved about everywhere. It’s not my first bronzer, but as soon as I put it on I fell in love! With my medium skin tone, the sun-kissed effect is very natural (note: the color payoff isn’t that great, but I don’t mind). It’s a matte bronzer and can be used to contour. Also, the mirror it comes with is AMAZING.

Maybelline Full & Soft Mascara in Very Black is a GREAT mascara. It lives up to its claims and gives a very natural look to your lashes. I only applied one coat of this, but I’m sure that if you apply a couple of coats it will look nicer. It volumizes the lashes and gives some length. My go-to for an everyday or makeup-no-makeup look!

Maybelline Eye Studio Master Shape Brow Pencil in Deep Brown (260) has a great texture. It’s not too creamy yet it’s not too hard. The darkest shade is great for my dark brown hair. Plus I love that it has a spoolie on one side! Definitely one of my favorite things to fill in my brows with.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent (001) – Wow! I cannot get enough of this powder! It keeps shine at bay for up to 5 hours (although on me it only works for 4 hours) and comes in many shades. I prefer the transparent one, but there’s a shade for everyone. One of my HG powders!

Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in Jet Black is a great eyeliner for smudging. It’s not the blackest-black (their Scandaleyes pencil does the trick), but it gives a sultry effect when blended out. On my oily eyelids it lasts all day with a primer, but I’m sure it can be used without one. This liner is also great for tightlining and lining the waterline, although it does give the raccoon effect after a long day.

Review: Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara

Standard

Hello lovelies! Today I have yet another review for you.

I know I’m late for the party, but I recently got the mini version (0.1 oz) of Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara and I am in LOVE.

Now, don’t get me wrong (because I absolutely love wearing false lashes), but I’m not a long-lash kind of gal. I love how the effect looks on other people, but I feel that it just doesn’t look good on me. Which is why I was a little apprehensive about this mascara.

The Benefit website states that this mascara lengthens, volumizes, lifts and separates lashes. I was worried that my lashes were going to look very spidery and fake. However, I decided to give it a try… and wow. This mascara does all it claims plus more!

I only applied one coat but as you can see, my eyelashes look great! What makes this mascara so special is the wand. It’s topped with a spiked ball that lengthens and separates, thereby giving a ‘false lash’ look. (Side note: please excuse my messy eyebrows! I’m growing them out…)

All in all, it’s a great mascara! I’m sure your lashes will look great if you apply a couple of coats. This product retails for $23 USD but you can get a smaller version for $10 USD.

Origins Haul + Review! Zero Oil Line + Out of Trouble Mask

Hello lovelies! I recently decided to change up my skincare routine, so naturally I opted for Origins! Now, if you don’t know, my skin is super oily. Like really, really oily. So after doing a bit of research (and I say a bit, because there aren’t many reviews on this Origins line), I decided to give it a go. I also purchased the Out of Trouble Mask.

The Zero Oil products claim to get rid of the excess sebum without over-drying the skin. Here is what the Origins website says about each product:

Zero Oil Deep Pore Cleanser with Saw Palmetto & Mint ($21): This maximum-strength, gently foaming cleanser formulated with skin-clearing Saw Palmetto, cooling Mint and pore-minimizing Salicylic Acid helps clear pores, eliminate excess oil and reduce shine. Leaves skin tingly clean and refreshed.

Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner with Saw Palmetto & Mint ($21): This invigorating, multi-tasking toner formulated with skin-clearing Saw Palmetto, cooling Mint and pore-minimizing Salicylic Acid instantly reduces shine and removes excess oil. Leaves skin with a smooth, matte finish.

Zero Oil Oil-Free Moisture Lotion with Saw Palmetto & Mint ($27.50): This lightweight, oil-free, hydrating lotion with skin-clearing Saw Palmetto, refreshing Mint and pore-minimizing Salicylic Acid instantly reduces shine, refines skin texture and creates a smooth, matte finish.

Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask to Rescue Problem Skin ($24): When skin is too-slick or when more pressing problems start to pop up, it’s Origins to the rescue to keep skin out of trouble. Nature’s trouble-shooters, including super-absorbent Zinc Oxide and Sulfur, calming Camphor rapidly responds to problem skin’s plight with a three-part plan – sop up oily-shine, slough off sticky, dead cells, and sweep away irksome debris. Together they steer skin clear of slippery situations, refine rough texture and pull the plug on troublemakers to oust potential outbursts.

I have to say, Origins does live up to their claim! I absolutely LOVE the products. The cleanser doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight like other cleansers do, the toner is great at removing excess dirt and oil from my pores and the moisturizer adds just enough moisture back into my skin. As for the mask, it’s pretty amazing. The only thing I dislike about the Out of Trouble Mask is that I have to remove it with a damp cloth… which kind of irritates my skin. But overall, fabulous products.

Now, these products DO have a scent to them. The Zero Oil products smell like (you guessed it) saw palmetto and mint. I’ve never smelled anything like it and I do enjoy it. If you’re not a fan of scented products, smell them first to see if you’re okay with the scent. The mask’s scent reminds me of Vicks VapoRub. It takes me back to the good ol’ days where my mom would rub some on my chest and feet when I was sick.

Overall these products are great! They definitely have controlled my oil and my blemishes have gone down. Let me tell you that the first day I used these my skin looked radiant. I don’t know how to describe it, but it just looked so great, even though it wasn’t completely blemish-free.

Thumbs up for Origins!
